Chelmsley Wood 16-25th September Good morning, Here is your regular update from the Chelmsley Wood Neighbourhood Policing Team We’ve dealt with an increase of anti-social behaviour on Chelmsley Wood Town Centre, we are continuing to enforce the PSPO and show an active presence to combat any issues. There has been a decrease in vehicle crime but we remind you to continue to lock your vehicles and ensure your valuables are out of view. GOOD NEWS We have arrested numerous prolific shoplifters in Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre and hace served a Community Protection Notice to another frequent offender. We’ve been active in the community handing out safety advice and providing reassurance surrounding mischief fortnight – where ASB is increased due to darker nights, Halloween and bonfire night. We attended the Woodlings festival at Three Trees Community Centre for youths and families We held a cuppa with a coppa on Wednesday at the Fordbridge Centre, giving locals the opportunity to voice their concerns. There will be a Cuppa with a Coppa at the Fordbridge Centre on Wednesday 4th November at 12:20-1:30pm There will be a beat surgery at Asda café, Bosworth drive between 11am-12pm on Thursday 5th November CRIME PREVENTION Fireworks and bonfires can be enjoyable and a great opportunity to bring people together. However, setting off fireworks or spontaneous bonfires can also cause stress and disruption to residents, wildlife, and household pets. We recommend attending organised community firework and bonfire displays rather than doing this at home. If you doing a display at home, ensure you have buckets of sand, water, or fire extinguishers to hand to put out any flames. Remember it’s an offence to throw or set off any firework (including sparklers and category 1 fireworks) in or into any highway, street, thoroughfare or public space. For more information about the times, dates, and purchasing restrictions for fireworks. Download our firework code postcard here
Keep burglars out Protect your home against opportunist burglars by remembering to ‘lock up’ and check on your neighbours. Dark evenings can provide perfect cover for burglars who can easily spot an open window in an unoccupied room, see your valuables through open curtains or blinds, or try their luck with an unlocked door while you are distracted by fireworks. Here are some crime prevention tips to help keep your property safe:
